2020 – Efflorescence – Art Exhibition by Selina Scerri

You are invited to the fourth exhibition of the newly redesigned 111 Art Gallery in Ta Xbiex, Malta, featuring artist Selina Scerri.

Taking on the tradition of still life painting, this collection explores the simple vase of flowers in a contemporary idiom. Using found images and real flowers as references, the artist created a collection that presents larger than life floral bouquets, exploring different materials and floral representations through painting. The artworks on show are like windows to the world’s soul that seems to have a contemporary and profound need to connect back with nature. Magical and dreamy, the viewer is invited to crave the natural habitat that often lacks in our cosmopolitan life.
The exhibition will run for two weeks, starting from the opening night on the 9th of October till the 23rd of October. We look forward to having you!

2020 – Why Abstract – An Exhibition Concept by Bogdan Dyulgerov

You are invited to the third exhibition of the newly redesigned 111 Art Gallery in Ta Xbiex, Malta, featuring artist Bogdan Dyulgerov exhibiting abstract art.

From ancient times to this day, people have used various signs and symbols to convey ideas, communicate between each other, and express their thoughts, feelings and emotions. Emotions are the foundation of art. Through the different types of art, the authors affect the emotions of the audience in specific ways. Writers use words, musicians create acoustic compositions with notes, artists use colours and forms for their visual works. Abstract painting gives unlimited freedom for the artist to create his own language of symbols and forms. Like a jazz musician during an improvisation, the artist lets his hands and imagination compose on top of the canvas until it reverberates with a beautiful music.

The exhibition will run for two weeks, starting from the opening night on the 21st of August till the 11th of September. Come and listen to the story behind the artworks and meet like minded people in a creative space washed down with a glass of wine and some finger-food. We promise you, you are in for a creative treat!
